If you’ve ever used the Keurig 2.0 K350 and liked it, you’re going to love the Keurig 2.0 K400!
Not only can you brew a full carafe of coffee when you need more than one cup, you can now brew even more. This brewer has a 70-ounce water reservoir, as opposed to the 60-ounce reservoir for the K350 (see Keurig K400 review).
Another big difference is the display. Earlier models had a black and white display. This brewer has a color touch display. It still has that awesome strength control feature, and it is just as easy to use as its predecessor. It comes with everything you need to start brewing right away.

Keurig 2.0 K400 Features
Why spend a lot of money at Tim Horton’s or Starbucks every day when you can brew the perfect cup of coffee at home, for a lot less?
For less than $200, you can have the Keurig 2.0 K400, which has a lot of new features that you haven’t seen on other Keurig brewers.
You can choose between brewing a single cup of coffee or a full pot simply by pressing a button, and you can choose the size of your cup, so it is easy to fill up a go-cup.
Some of our favorite features this brewer has to offer include:
Brew More |
---|
This is a great brewer for small offices, because you can brew up to 70 ounces of coffee at a time. This means that you can get a minimum of four large cups of coffee, or more if you choose smaller cup sizes. Previous reservoirs only held up to 60 ounces of water. This is also great to have at home when company drops by. You will be able to brew plenty of delicious coffee, tea, or other beverages. |
Sleek Design |
---|
Not only is the design of this brewer sleek in appearance, it is also functional. There is a color touch screen with controls that are easy to use. There are intuitive menu options, and they are pretty easy to figure out even without reading the instruction manual (even though you really should give it a quick read). One of the best functions is the automatic shut-off. If you are the type who forgets to turn off the coffee maker, you need this feature. |
Colored Lights |
---|
While this doesn’t really make much of a difference when it comes to great tasting coffee, you can change the color scheme of the menu. You can also change the color of the LED lights that illuminate the water reservoir. This is purely for aesthetics, but it is a very attractive feature. Plus, having a light makes it easy to see what you are doing without having to turn on any lights. |
User-Friendly |
---|
Like all Keurig brewers, the K400 is easy to use. All you have to do is turn it on, let the water pre-heat, insert a K-Cup or K-Carafe, choose your mug size, and press the “Keurig 2.0” button. All together it takes about a minute or so to brew a perfect cup or pot of coffee. The new scanner in the K400 knows if you are brewing a single cup or a carafe, and will give you the perfect brew every time. |
No Mess |
---|
No matter if you are brewing a cup or a carafe, you won’t have to worry about any mess, thanks to the awesome Keurig technology. In addition to the label scanner, there is also a slot at the machine’s base. If you have the normal drip tray in place, the brewer will know that you are brewing a single cup. If you remove the drip tray to put the carafe into place, the brewer will sense this and brew an entire pot. |
Recyclable Packaging |
---|
We love that the K-Carafe packages are recyclable. This means that there is less waste to sit in landfills. When you are done with each package, peel off the foil lid, which will in turn pull out the filter. The plastic housing is made with #5 plastic, which can be recycled in many places. Unfortunately, the K-Cups do not use this same plastic packaging, so they can’t be recycled. |
Warranty |
---|
As with all Keurig brewers, the K400 comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty that protects you against any manufacturer defects. If you are not pleased with your Keurig brewer, or if there are defects, simply contact customer service for a hassle-free experience. If there is a defect, you can have your brewer replaced at no additional cost to yourself. |
Now that we have talked about all of the great features that we love about this brewer, we do need to mention a few of the things that we aren’t overly crazy about. For instance, there have been some known issues with the touch screen not working properly.
Some users have also said that it does not brew coffee as quickly as the manufacturer claims, because it needs to have a warm-up period prior to brewing coffee.
Another issue with this brewer is that it is not programmable. Sure, you can set it to brew a cup or carafe of coffee.
But, if you want to have your coffee ready for you when you wake up in the morning, forget it. You are going to have to get up and make it yourself.
How to Descale Your Keurig 2.0 K400
If you want to always have the freshest tasting coffee, you need to make sure that your brewer is always clean, and that you descale it once in a while. This is particularly important if you have hard water, because there are going to be more mineral deposits.
This leaves a scaly, white film on the inside of the coffee maker, and it has a huge effect on the way your coffee tastes. Descaling your Keurig brewer is easy. You have the option to use the Keurig descaling solution, or you can make your own descaling solution using vinegar and water.
It is a good idea to get into the habit of descaling your Keurig brewer every month or two. You can even set a reminder so you aren’t going to forget to take this important cleaning step. Here is a video that will show you how to clean and descale your Keurig 2.0 brewer.
Alternative Product
If you want a brewer that comes with a water filter starter kit so you don’t have to buy it separately, you may be interested in the Keurig 2.0 K450.
Of course, this kit only costs around $12, so it isn’t all that expensive if you would rather stick with the K400.
The K450 does have a few other features that are different from the K400, which you may be interested in learning more about, including:
Water Filter |
---|
The K450 has a water filter that is built in, which the K400 doesn’t have. It has a long, plastic tube that connects to the base of the water tank. Also at the base is an activated carbon filter, which should be replaced about once a month. |
More Accessories |
---|
The K450 comes with more K-Cup and K-Carafe pods. Instead of two K-Carafe packages and four K-Cup packages, you will get six K-Cup pods and four K-Carafe pods. This is going to get you by for a few more days until you can get to the supermarket to buy more. |
Conclusion
Brewing a single cup or a full pot of coffee has never been easier, thanks to the Keurig 2.0 K400 brewer. This intuitive machine knows whether you are brewing a cup or a carafe, and sets itself accordingly.
You can customize the size of the cup, as well as the strength of your brew, so you have a cup of coffee that is perfect for you every single time. If you want to brew a full carafe, it is going to be just as delicious, and it still only takes a couple of minutes to brew.
